If you’ve found this page, chances are you are eligible to attend the IFAAB conference! IFAAB is targeted toward animal behavior professionals with some pre-existing behavior knowledge, especially including the following:
-Animal behavior researchers
-Students (must be graduate level and must attend with an academic mentor)
-Veterinarians with a special interest in behavior (e.g., DACVBs, members of AVSAB, or other behavior-focused veterinarians)
-CAABs or ACAABs
-Animal behaviorists or trainers
-Animal shelter workers
-Researchers in other relevant areas: Genetics, biology, behavior analysis, etc.
Historically, all Forum attendees were required to present at the conference. This does not need to be a formal academic presentation and could include any of the following:
-Single or group presentation: Speakers can present on a WIDE variety of topics of their own choosing. For example, this can include behavior cases, current research, conceptual shifts, ethics, protocol development and testing, supplies/equipment, demos, or any other topic related to the field of applied animal behavior.
-Panels with multiple presenters: Multiple speakers present, discuss, or debate a particular topic.
–Discussion facilitation: No formal presentation necessary. Instead, the speaker proposed a topic of interest and then oversees discussion amongst the other Forum attendees. This is often one of the most interesting presentation types, as the topics can be novel or controversial.
-Poster presentation: Students may present a poster on Friday night in lieu of giving a presentation.
-Other options! If you’re interested in other presentation options, let us know (info@ifaab.org). The Forum is open to other creative ideas.
